Audio Book Review: These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner.

Book Title: These Broken Stars (Starbound #1)
Author: Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner
Recommended for: Sci-fi fans, titanic fans.
Theme: survival, alone on a planet, rich girl.
Type: Trilogy
Genre:  YA, Sci-Fi Fantasy.
It's a night like any other on board the Icarus. Then, catastrophe strikes: the massive luxury spaceliner is yanked out of hyperspace and plummets into the nearest planet. Lilac LaRoux and Tarver Merendsen survive. And they seem to be alone.
Lilac is the daughter of the richest man in the universe. Tarver comes from nothing, a young war hero who learned long ago that girls like Lilac are more trouble than they’re worth. But with only each other to rely on, Lilac and Tarver must work together, making a tortuous journey across the eerie, deserted terrain to seek help.
Then, against all odds, Lilac and Tarver find a strange blessing in the tragedy that has thrown them into each other’s arms. Without the hope of a future together in their own world, they begin to wonder—would they be better off staying here forever?
Everything changes when they uncover the truth behind the chilling whispers that haunt their every step. Lilac and Tarver may find a way off this planet. But they won’t be the same people who landed on it.

My Rating:
“For a moment the image before us is frozen: our world, our lives, reduced to a handful broken stars half lost in uncharted space. Then it's gone, the view swallowed by the hyperspace winds streaming past, blue-green auroras wiping the after-images away.Until all that's left is us” ― Amie Kaufman, These Broken Stars

Ramblings (Review):
Judge this book by it's cover! Yes sir it is as amazing from the outside as it is from the inside. I didn't read this book I listened to the audio book and it was my very first audio book which turned out to be a pleasant surprise I never expected an audio book to be so much fun I truly didn't It was amazing because the book was amazing a total page turner except metaphorically speaking. This book is a dual POV and I love dual POV's if they are done right and this one was done amazingly! the conflict between the characters was intriguing and the book was fairly fast paced and gripping. These Broken Stars keep the reader or listener constantly thinking as to what would happen next and many times I personally failed to interpret what would happen next correctly. There was an air of suspense and I love suspense. The world building was great and the characters especially the main ones weren't hollow and boring.
I don't know why people call it insta love it's not, there is a chemistry between the main characters Tarver Merendsen (a young war hero) and Lilac LaRoux (daughter of the richest man in the universe) from the beginning of the book but as the story progresses the primal attraction that they had towards each other get snuffed out and then afterwards as they are stranded on a planet alone and lost and with no one else to rely on there feelings began to redevelop for each other feelings of love and trust. But before they actually do that a number of conflicts occur a bunch of fights and disagreements a very well played out damsel in distress moment.

  5. I'm glad to hear you liked this one so much! I'm nervous about starting audiobooks because I feel like my mind will wander if I'm just listening to a story, so it's good this one captured you so effectively.

Unfortunately, I got a bit bored when trying to read this and didn't end up finishing. All these positive reviews make me want to give it a second chance, though!

  6. I've never heard it accused of insta-love before! Because I totally agree with you! They took aaaages to warm up to each other. (Well, I thought, they did.) But they were absolutely adorable together and that major twist at the end had me nearly sobbing all over the book. It's such an incredible story. :)

  10. I love your point about the insta-love thing! In reality, that happens! People start off on a good foot and can actually like each other right when they meet! It doesn't mean they're instantly in love! The characters in this book had a relationship that progressed beautifully and realistically! Great review!
